History of Project (Castle Deane)
Hector Castillo arrived in Ireland in october 2013.
He was interested in the music scene in this country, especially what was happening in blues, folk, rock and roots music, hoping to work with other musicians who could develop these styles in an innovative way.
A chance encounter with Ed Deane at a gig he was playing led to the two musicians agreeing to collaborate on this idea.
They started work on writing and recording at Hector´s home studio during the winter of 2013.
Although both musicians have very different backgrounds , a shared love of the blues is evident in these recordings.
Other influences that can be heard are as diverse as , Soul , Rock, Funk and even Surf. Elements of these styles manifest themselves within the songs naturally and lyrical ideas were bounced between both writers, sometimes resulting in very unexpected variations on the original ideas.
The final result is the six songs contained in this EP “At a Station”.
