Bass Guitar, Drums.

ABOUT

I've had trouble uploading my music on this site but here's a link to some demos:

https://soundcloud.com/expatmusic

I have started a music project called “expat” and I am looking for musicians to form a band with and to perform original songs I have written. I think the music will work best as a three-piece so I'm just looking for a bass player and drummer at the moment. If you hear the demos and think you can make a case for there being a second guitar or a keys player, I'm interested to hear what you think.

I'm a 22 year old graphic design student who just moved to Dublin. Born and Raised in Bermuda, attended university on-and-off for three years in New Orleans, and just started a new three year degree at the Dublin Institute of Design. I am completely new to the Dublin music scene but I'd like to start getting involved A.S.A.P.

I was never in bands in Bermuda as there is and extremely small pool of rock musicians and there is virtually no scene. In New Orleans I jammed with many different musicians and often filled in as a substitute but I focused most of my time on writing. Because of this, my performing experience is mostly limited to acoustic open mic nights.

Personal ranking of my musical abilities, from best to worst:
1. song-writing
2. guitar
3. bass
4. production
5. voice
6. keys

I have a very eclectic taste in music and can never quite settle down into one genre. My vision for this project is to find a way to make an album that incorporates lots of different styles and influences, and may switch genre from track to track, but have an overall unified sound. I think this can be accomplished by the core music of every song being from a three-piece band. Every song should be able to sound complete when performed live but in recording we can add layers of overdubs, double tracks, and synth-generated sounds to fill out the sound and create interest and excitement, all in a restrained and thoughtful way.

I'd like to retain creative control over the project. I find most of my favorite artists have one creative forerunner and I think the music I've written is so personal that it lends it's self to this style. Because of this, it's more than okay is this is a side project for you. I'm just looking for some musicians with a similar taste that can practice regularly and begin giging soon.
